Nestled in Pagewood, NSW, Ash House stands as a testament to thoughtful rejuvenation, encompassing both the internal spaces and the external landscape to forge a cohesive and inviting home environment.
Ash House underwent a comprehensive renovation, transforming a single-storey residence with a design that seamlessly integrated a swimming pool into the modern yet functional aesthetic. The inspiration behind this extensive makeover was drawn from Scandinavian design principles, celebrated for their clean lines, a soothing palette of ashy timber, ash white, and greys, alongside a focus on maximizing natural light and enhancing functional living spaces. The choice of “Ash House” as the project’s name reflected the client’s appreciation for these Scandinavian elements, with the ashy tones and minimalist approach directly influencing the materials and colour scheme, thereby defining the home’s uniquely serene character.
Achieving the vision for Ash House involved a strategic partnership between Studio Gaxa and Steve from Design Residents. This collaboration led to a design that not only secured approval under a Complying Development Certificate but also set a rigorous 11-week timeline for completion. The renovation prioritizes the use of alternative materials and innovative design techniques to balance aesthetic appeal with cost-efficiency, ensuring the project remains sophisticated yet budget-friendly. Through careful planning and execution, Ash House is transformed into a space that is both functional and reflective of the serene beauty inherent in Scandinavian design.
