Studio Gaxa was engaged by the client to undertake internal renovations and interior design for this three-storey terrace, located in the heart of Paddington, NSW. Previously transformed from a commercial garage into a residential premise, this 2-bedroom terrace required a sophisticated update to enhance safety and functionality while creating a cohesive space.

The project brief aimed for a seamless changeover from the industrial ambiance of the downstairs area to the refined atmosphere of the third level, where the master bedroom is located. Embracing a stylish adaptation with an industrial flair, the renovation concentrated on the interior redesign of the main bathroom, kitchen, master bedroom, living area, internal staircase, and batten fixing details. The objective was to forge a space that melds modern elegance with industrial charm, ensuring the terrace was not only visually striking but also a comfortable and stylish environment conducive to both living and working from home. 

Achieving the desired look and feel involved exposing structural beams and incorporating minimalist black accents against a backdrop of white undertones. These black accents were echoed in small details throughout the home, adding a touch of elegance without compromising the design’s integrity. The inclusion of warm timber elements and dark porcelain terrazzo feature floor tiles further enhanced the terrace’s appeal, making it a standout living space.

The client sought to improve the functionality and safety of their home while also wanting to create a beautiful, unified space that reflected their personal style. The industrial feel of the lower floors needed to be harmonised with the more refined areas of the home, such as the master bedroom, to achieve a balanced and inviting interior. Studio Gaxa’s expertise in interior design and renovation was instrumental in realising this vision, resulting in a Paddington terrace that embodies sophisticated living at its finest.
