In the wake of COVID-19, our homes have transformed to encompass offices, gyms, and social spaces, spotlighting the necessity for functional home offices as remote work becomes the norm. Alicia from Power Paws Pet Care faced this challenge head-on when her home office, cluttered and almost storage-like, no longer served her entrepreneurial needs efficiently. Seeking a solution, she turned to Studio Gaxa’s project director for a transformation.
Incorporating the project within Alicia’s home, specifically targeting the disused office space in need of revitalisation, Studio Gaxa set out to redesign the room into a spacious, clean, and functional work-from-home environment, seamlessly blending it into the fabric of her everyday living space.
The renovation aimed to adapt Alicia’s living situation to her current and future professional needs, turning a once chaotic room into a productive and stylish home office. This shift was motivated by the broader change in work dynamics brought on by the pandemic, highlighting the importance of having a dedicated and well-designed space for work within the home.
Embracing creativity while being mindful of budget, Studio Gaxa repurposed most of the room’s existing elements, following an approved design board and compiling a Finishes, Fittings & Equipment (FFE) schedule for necessary additions. Decor enhancements from Flower Power and functional items from Kmart, alongside original artwork by The Inked Explorers in frames from Ikea, contributed to the room’s transformation. A focus on the flow of the room ensured that the space felt larger and more inviting, proving that a well-designed home office could be achieved without significant expense.
This project exemplifies how, with thoughtful planning and a clear understanding of client needs, a once underutilised space can be transformed into a vital part of the home, supporting productivity and comfort. If you’re considering such a transformation, Studio Gaxa offers bespoke interior styling services tailored to creating efficient and appealing home offices.
